Can I track employees' sick time, vacation time and holiday
time?
Sick, vacation and holiday time can be tracked with AttendView
by using jobs in the job list called "Sick", "Vacation"
and "Holiday". For example, if an employee is out on vacation,
enter the vacation time for the employee using the clock-data editor,
and select "Vacation" as the job. A summary of vacation time
can be done by creating a job report and selecting "Vacation".

Can a Job Sub-code (or Job Task) be recorded?
The message field of the clock data could be used to
record a job sub-code along with the job number. To do this, instruct
employees to first use the Change Job button to select the Job number.
Then press the Leave Message button to record the job code. Note: The
job code will not be recorded in the clock data record until the employee
clocks out or changes jobs again. The job sub-code will then be displayed
in the "Message" column of the Detailed, More Detailed and
Detailed Job reports. To make the most of the job sub-code, you may
wish to make custom reports using MS Access or Crystal
Reports (Note: The reports included with AttendView are in Crystal Reports
8.0 format).
(Top)
Is it possible to change the time and date format
used in AttendView Clock and in the reports?

one computer to another.

How can I prevent employees from changing
the time before clocking in or out?
Note: This is only applicable to AttendView 3.63
and earlier. Version 4.0 makes it harder for employees to cheat because
the time always comes from the server.
There are two methods for preventing employees from changing the time
on the system for clocking in and out. Both methods may be implemented
to provide the best security and to keep the time accurate.
Method 1 - Synchronize Time
The best method is to use the "Synchronize Time" option in the
AV Clock Configuration (right-click on the AV Clock title-bar and select
Config). If "Synchronize Time" is checked, the time will be obtained
from a time server on the internet or another computer on the local
network. For more information refer to the online help.
(Top)
Method 2 - Stand Alone System
If the computer running AV Clock is not on a network, the following
instructions can be followed to prevent employees from changing the
system time. This method works well if the computer is dedicated for
AttendView use.
Method 2 - Windows NT, XP, 2000 Solution
A user profile can be generated which doesn't have access to setting
the system time. Refer to Start - Program - Administrative Tools - User
Manager.

Method 2 - Windows 98 Solution
The Windows 98 Solution imposes a number of restrictions to the user,

98 CD (\tools\reskit\netadmin\poledit).

I entered my user name and password but
was denied access to AV Tools. What can I do?
The login is case sensitive. Make sure you use the correct case when
entering the user name and password. You can also try the using the
initial login (user: admin, password: {blank}). If you are still unable
to login, have someone with user settings permission change your login
from the user settings dialog. If your login is the only one with user
settings permission, and you are unable to login, you can open the database
file with MS Access and remove the password for your user in the user
settings table. Note: If asked for a password when opening MS Access,
refer to the question "I tried to use MS Access
to import, export or create reports, but I am asked for a password.
What is the password?". If you are still unable to retrieve
your password, contact attendview@csts.com
for assistance.
The initial login for a new database or for the sample database is
as follows.
User name: admin (or administrator)
Password: admin (for eariler version of AttendView, leave blank)

Why are there no employees being displayed
on the AV Clock?
Check the AV Clock configuration (right-click on
the title-bar of AVClock and select Config). It could be that no departments
are selected for display, or the wrong database file is selected.

Why do I get the message "Can
not lock file" when starting AttendView on one of my computers?
This error occurs when AttendView is run on multiple
computers and the computer doesn't have sufficient permission on the
database file. AttendView needs read, write and create permission on
both the MDB file and the LDB file. If you are using both share and
user-level permissions, the most restrictive permissions will be provided
to the user. Make sure both sets of permissions are adequate for accessing
the database.

Why do I get the message “Unable to open
database file” when I start AV Clock (or AV Tools)?
AttendView is configured to use a database file
that doesn’t exist. It could be that a mapped networked drive is no longer
mapped due to a network problem. Locate the database file with the file
open dialog that appears after the message is closed. If necessary re-map
the network drive.
(Top)
Why are some of the menu options disabled
when I run AV Tools?
Most likely you logged in as a user who does not
have permission to use all the AttendView functions. Ask the administrator
(or whoever has permission for the User Settings dialog) to give you access
to the functions that you need.

My employees have clocked in/out but this
is not reflected on another computer.
Make sure that each computer on which AttendView is used
is configured to use the same database file. This configuration must
be done on every computer where AttendView is installed. The full path
to the database file in use is shown in the title-bar of AttendView
tools. The database can be selected by using the "Select Database"
from the AttendView Tools File menu.

I tried to use MS Access to import, export
or create reports, but I am asked for a password. What is the password?
This may indicate that the database password has not been
set yet. From the File menu of AttendView Tools, select Change Database
Password. Enter a new password and press OK. Then you should be able
to open the database with MS Access using this new password.
If you are using AttendView 3.0 or earlier, there is no
Change Database Password feature. You must upgrade
