AttendView 5 Minute Tour

This tour provides a brief introduction to AttendView. It covers a few of the main features of AttendView. The sample database should be used as a starting point. When AttendView is first installed, the sample database will be selected as the current database. This allows you to try out some of the features without having to create employees and employee time data.

Using AV Clock with the Sample Database

The AV Clock allows employees to clock in and out using a PC with a keyboard or using a card reader attached to a PC. To use the AV Clock, start it from the Windows Start menu. Click on Start, Program, AttendView, and then AttendView Clock. The following dialog will appear.

To clock an employee in or out, type in the employee’s first name in all lower case and press Enter.

Note: The sample database uses the employee’s first name to clock in/out for simplicity, but it could have used the employee number or an employee selected clock in/out code. Optionally, a card reader could also be used for clocking in and out.

A message in the message box at the bottom of the AV Clock display will provide clock in/out feedback. The employee status grid will reflect the employee’s in/out status. When an employee is clocked out, he/she will appear on a gray background. When an employee is clocked in, he/she will appear on a white background. When an employee is clocked in but is on “Outside Work”, he/she will appear on a light blue background. For more information on the AV Clock see Using the AV Clock and AV Clock Setup.

Creating a Report from the Sample Data

To create reports, start AV Tools from the Windows Start menu. Click on Start, Program, AttendView, and then AttendView Clock. To login, use the following name and password.

Login name: admin

Password: (blank)

Note: The login name and password are case sensitive.

Select Detailed Report from the Report menu. The following dialog will appear.

Select a date range somewhere between 3/1/99 and 3/31/99. To include all employees in the report, just leave All Employees selected and press Create Report. A report preview will appear. This preview allows you to see how the report will look before printing it. To print out the report, click the printer icon printerIcon.gif on the report preview. For more information on creating reports, see Report Generation.

Editing the Sample Clock Data

The Clock Data Edit dialog can be used by a supervisor who has Clock Data Edit permission. The supervisor may correct clock in/out times that were missed by an employee. To edit the clock data, open the Clock Data Edit dialog from AV Tools by selecting Clock Data from the Edit menu. The following dialog will appear. Then select an employee name and a week ending date somewhere between 3/7/1999 and 3/31/1999. The clock data for the selected employee and selected week will be shown in the grid. The Clock Data Edit dialog should appear similar to the following.
