Time Synchronizing
If more than one station is setup with AV Clock for employees to clock in/out,
the accuracy of the computers’ time is very important. The following are some methods of insuring time
synchronization.
Option 1
Use only one computer for clocking in/out.
Option 2
Periodically run Net.exe on each station to set the system time to a station
designated as the time server. The command would be NET TIME \\(Computer name) /SET where (Computer name) is the name of the time server computer.
Option 3 (recommended)
Install software that supports the SNTP (Simple Network Time Protocol). If at
least one of the computers on the network has access to the Internet, the time
could be set using an Internet Time server. If not all (or none) of the
stations have access to the Internet, it is important to select SNTP software which
can be used as either a client or a server.
We recommend using SNTP for Windows. A downloadable free trial version is
available from the following web-site: http://www.knight-and-associates.com/sntp4win. It provides all the necessary features and is only $5.00 per site license.
